Marija Karan
Marija M. Karan, PhD, has been continuously building her professional path in the field of cultural studies, theory of arts and mass media since 2000. She received MA degree at the Department of Ethnomusicology of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade with the work “Melodic caesura in Serbian vocal heritage”. At Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies, Theory of Arts and Media, University of Arts in Belgrade she received PhD degree and defended thesis: “Musical conception of radio discourse versus the auditorium – types of transformations of mutual relations seen in the interdisciplinary field of media theory”. From 2019 to 2022, she was engaged as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade and associate lecturer at the interdisciplinary master’s studies Theory of Arts and Media at the University of Arts in Belgrade. Since 2021, she is Assistant Professor at the Unit for Complementary Scientific and Professional Disciplines of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. She continuously participates in conferences and symposia and publishes works in the field of media theory. Marija worked as a music supervisor on film and television projects, she is an author, editor and music director of commercial radio stations, journalist and music editor of an international media company (Global Broadcasting Times, Finland), assistant director, editor of the Jeunesses Musicales Belgrade program, music and media consultant.
